Road Trip #4: Oregon and Seattle......again!
Okay-I know I was just there a year ago, but my friend Stacie invited us back so we couldn't resist. The trip started off rocky with LOTS of detours through Missouri and Nebraska due to the recent flooding, but after finally getting back on track we had the best time hitting all of the antique shops in South Dakota........tons of them and so excited for all of the fantastic stuff I got for the shop! Lots of walking through Seattle..............did some kayaking in the San Juan Islands.............a short trip to Corvallis and Newport Beach Oregon and then it was back home to 100 degree weather (makes me love Seattle more and more). Sadly I spent more time shopping and walking Seattle than I did taking pics, but here's a few for you.
Flooding in Missouri
Chickens we followed for over an hour through Nebraska!

South Dakota Skies.......the most beautiful I've ever seen!

Roadtrip Diaries: Weston Missouri
Recently we spent the day in the charming little town of Weston, Missouri. We had the best time walking up and down main street shopping in the antique stores (I bought some super cute vintage hats and bags that I'll be listing soon), wine tasting at Pirtle Winery and trying shots at McCormicks (Weston is home to the McCormick Distillery) and having lunch at the Weston Cafe where they make the BEST gravy ever...........I'm not even kidding. At the end of the day we stopped at O'Malley's Pub for a pint and some live Irish music (yeah---we did a little bit of drinking that day). We didn't stay overnight, but there are tons of bed and breakfasts in beautiful old historic buildings in town. This really is a terrific place to spend the day AND every 2nd Saturday of the month all of the shops have wine tasting while you shop! (I'm all about the free liquor!!)
Excuse the thumbprint
Weston Cafe. The BEST Gravy in the world!!
I'm seriously not kidding.............This will be my last meal before I'm executed.
From Pirtle Winery.
I suggest the Mellow Red.

Roadtrip #2: Kansas City RV Shows
Okay this isn't really an official 'roadtrip' since it's only a 15 minute drive, but I'm calling it a roadtrip anyway cause I'm also getting to mark off one of my goals for the year. KCI Mega RV show this weekend and BONUS........next weekend is the Mid-America RV show! Never thought rv shows would get me so excited, but if I'm going to be traveling and living in one, I'd better start seriously checking them out. I'm sure none will be as cute as these though!

Road Trip Diaries: Seattle
FINALLY---pics from my trip to Seattle (and a couple from South Dakota). Had a fantastic time there. Such a beautiful place. Spent soooo much time sight seeing that I didn't get to do much shopping for the store while there, but that's okay. Had a wonderful time anyway. You MUST make a trip there. I'm still dreaming of the fresh crab cakes. Thanks Stacie for the hospitality. You're the bestest tour guide ever!!

The famous Pike Place Market where I could have spent all day shopping for fresh fruit and flowers. I was in heaven here!

Mt. Rainier. Breathtaking.

A seagull. The locals hate them. I think they're pretty.

The Space Needle where the pride flag was flying high for gay pride weekend. What a beautiful thing.

A phallic shaped building in downtown Seattle.

Sturgis, South Dakota. Didn't see a single biker there, but found an awesome thrift store and bought the cutest boots!

Mt. Rushmore. Much smaller than I expected.

The Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. A sight to behold and the BEST caramel corn ever!!

Gypsy Life
I adore fashion--I adore adventure. My dream is to take Dirty Betty on the road. Traveling through wide open spaces and maybe not so wide to see where life takes me as I search for lovely pieces for my shop and exciting new places to lay my head. In the very near future I will be taking off on the ultimate adventure. Just me, my brave, super supportive spouse and our yet to be purchased home on wheels.........crossing my fingers to restore a vintage Airstream, but that remains to be seen. For now, as we count down the days until our new gypsy life begins, we'll be exploring our surroundings a little closer to home in the Midwest. Hope you enjoy the ride.
